George Michael admits fault
George Michael has admitted he was in possession of controlled substances. In a statement issued to the media, he said:
"I have been through enough in 24 years of dealing with the media to know what I am in for from them this week. Much of it will be inaccurate or simply untrue. I can handle that, it is my own stupid fault, as usual.
I was in possession of Class C drugs which is an offence and I have no complaints about the police who were professional throughout.
The only thing I care about is that people know that I was properly tested by the
police doctor on Saturday night, who stated to the officers present that I was not impaired in any way and should be allowed to drive home.
In fact, the only reason I didn't drive home was that the police accidentally immobilized my car when they parked it.
The duty solicitor
very kindly gave me a lift home.
PS: I promise I won't make a record out of this one - even though it is tempting - (27 February 2006)

The album Patience debuts at # 1 in Denmark, Italy, Germany, Sweden and the UK. The album is also in the top 5 of most other contries. The Patience album page will be updated regularly with Chart information. (26 March 2004)
The album
Patience sold a massive 60,000 copies on the first day of its release in the UK and is on track to debut at #1. An HMV
spokesperson said "This is a great return to form by one of the world's greatest recording artists and sets George up to be an
early contender for the year's biggest-selling album. Patience has clearly been worth the wait.
At this rate George is on target
to sell well over 250,000 copies by the end of the week, and maybe even 300,000 which would earn him a platinum disc.
That would
not only assure him his first UK No1 since his covers album Songs From The Last Century in 1999 - but also give him the biggest
first week sales of any album this year, including Norah Jones's Feels Like Home."
In Australia, HMV Midweek chart has Patience at #1. (17 March 2004)
An excellent article in The Daily Telegraph
(Australia) titled George Michael's a patient guy .... "But George Michael never needed to do interviews before either.
George has never, ever courted the limelight, so why break his silence now?
The simple reason is he is proud of Patience, wants
people to know about it and believes he has some responsibility to explain himself to his fans, the ones who have remained fiercely
loyal." .... read

George Michael announced today that he is not planning to
release any more albums commercially following Patience. Instead he plans to release songs online and give the fans the option of
donating money for charity. Michael made his announcement during an interview with Jo Whiley on BBC1 Radio. He said "I think
this will be my last commercial promoted release. I've been very well renumerated for my talent over the years and I really don't
need the public's money really."
"I'm sure it's unprecedented, it's definitely unprecedented for someone who still
sells records."
Asked on his choice for the album title, he said "I actually think Patience is the most important word
on the planet at the moment and I think patience is the only thing that will save us really but also I was having a quick joke about
that fact it has taking me so long to make the album."
He also praised his fans for their patience and said "I do
understand that I have the most patient fans in the history of pop music."
George Michael described 'My mother had a
brother' and 'Through' as the most personal tracks on the album.
George Michael also talked about his appearance on Who
Wants To Be A Millionaire and about his relationship with Kenny. (10 March 2004) .... Click
