YOU'VE GOT YOGMAEL!!!

In this issue a few lost treasures, also known as posts from the WEB...

I took a member count on Thursday afternoon, we are at over 465!

Also, I am pleased to report that other than my regular winter sniffles and
stress headaches, I am once more healthy! My thanks to all who offered
medical advice! I shall look into them next time.

OK, so I've been watching the Unplugged in excess lately, and I just have to
ask if anyone else thought that George and Shirlie Lewis were acting out some
sort of Carol Burnett/Harvey Corman routine! I mean those two made eye
contact, and that was it, Shirlie was laughing and George was doing the
"close the eyes to gain composure" thing. I just found it funny, and was
wondering if anyone else can relate to my frame of reference, or should I
just refrain from watching George late at night and lay off the caffeine a
bit?

Lastly, as Mark will tell you, there's been a little actions over at AEgean
online. I was showing a friend around AOL and hit the site to show her, but
it took longer to load than usual, but I'll let Mark tell you the rest...

AND AWAY WE GO...

I checked the Aegean web site today and it seems that February 10th is the
first
day of 'transmission'..........I look forward to seeing what they've done
with the site....

Let's all offer our support.....if it is an official web site it should
provide lots of excitement..... I wonder how much is George's involvement?

It's great to be a part of such a devoted and dedicated group of fans...you
had wonderful insight Amanda...I'm glad you stopped thinking about it and
did it.... : )

(Despite the fact that YOGMAEL's motto should contain a George lyric, credit
Madonna with the official YM motto "Put your love to the test." Thanks Mark!
And belated congrats to you and your bride. AG)

take care

Hi! I was just told that they will be using the Unplugged performance of
"Star People" for the video.

(Which is what I thought--despite my desire for a more innovative one--George
would do. AG)

Hey Amanda. I am in love with Yogmail. You are my George Michael Angel.

(And you people wonder how I can keep it up? It's notes like this that make
my decade. AG)

My eyes are bleeding because I've attempted to read every entry in one night.
I'm proud to hear that you are a fellow Canadian. I'm from Vancouver and
have had a hard time finding other hard core fans to share my interest with.

(We do exist! Even in the great white north! AG)

Perhaps I don't know where to look But I have had a difficult time finding GM
Posters and rare CD's etc.

(Import companies are your friend when you're a George fan... You want
Georgely product in North America, and you better look real hard! I have
recently--with the help of YOGMAEL--taken to direct import from England,
straight from HMV to the post office! AG)

Keep up the fantastic work.

I bought the album when it got released. I found it difficult to listen to,
but after playing the CD a few times I evenually got into it. I give the
album a 9.5 rating. Must leave some room for improvement.

COMING SOON!!!!:

THE YOGMAEL HONOURS!

Sick of seeing everyone but George win music awards? Then this is just what
you were looking for! In this case, George's only competition is himself. adjusting to. I have however

started once more but I am beginning to hear things that I am no longer able
to recieve. If you can email info regarding the single in Switzerland "If I
ruled the world",

(An error, NOT a George track. AG)

as well why STW was NOT released in the US,

(Wasn't deemed hit worthy in America. AG)

the video and dance mix is amazing, and if this Australian dance compliation
is coming to the US shores. I HATE import prices.

(Then sell your George collection, cuz all the good stuff is now imported.
AG)

My collection is quite huge, including the rare Club Fantastic--a Fantastic
megamix wham rap, bad boys, young guns for promo. When will the greatest
hits come out?

(1997, I'm guessing in time for Christmas. AG)

Any word on any new video compliations coming?

(No, and with George hating them--videos--as he does, who knows. AG)

Sorry for all the questions, but I have been kept in the dark. thanks a
bunch.

(Read YOGMAEL for a while, and things get a whole lot lighter... AG)

Hi there! This is a reply to Denise about "desafinado" song. I am portuguese
therefore I can translate the song to whoever wants it.

(I have the English lyrics, to run soon in YOGMAEL, but I was also looking
for the Portuguese actually. AG)

Right now I'm in Newcastle and you can e mail me if you need anything. By
the way, I'm the biggest yog fan.

(And the last time you got only 3 hours sleep you could send out a George
mailing list was?? AG)

Up to date info on album releases, appearances desired.

(Well if you can handle fan chit chat too, then YOGMAEL should be of help.
AG)

Also would like to know about how to get a copy of autobiography

(There are a couple floating around on here. AG)

thanks.

Hi there Amanda, how are you?

I hope you're recovering from that bug you had the other day.

(Indeed I am. Thank you. AG)

Right then, it looks like GM is not going to have another UK number one with
Older, at least not at the moment anyway. As you probably know, Blur
released their latest single Beetlebum at the same time as Older, and
according to most reports, it is outselling everything. Some stores
are saying that Beetlebum is selling more than Older, and White Town's
'Your Woman', last weeks number one, put together. This looks like bad
news for our George, although it is possible that the sales could pick
up yet, although it's doubtful. Judging by the trends over here
lately, it's possible that Older could climb up to number one after a
couple of weeks on the chart, but that depends on how much promotion
and airplay it gets, and at the moment, the majority of stations over
here are playing 'I Can't Make You Love Me', as opposed to Older.

(Oh dear... AG)

It's a shame Chris Evans quit Radio One, as he could have given the
song loads of plugging, like he did with Texas' new song, and they
managed to get from number seven to number three. Anyway, The Older EP
is a good single, although I still think it sounds like Michael
Jackson singing on the Desafinado track, but you'll just have to wait
until you get your copy. I've not heard loads about this Red Hot+Rio
album, but I've already got a couple of tracks from it, Desafinado,
and Corcavado, by EBTG. I don't know if you've heard it but it's
totally different to Desafinado, ie, one is a ballad of sorts, the
other one is cocktail drum+bass, just a subtle difference I suppose.
like a shadow and to everything for me, and never be tempted by other men, so

obviously I'm not attracted by that type. There are very few things in my
life that I can't have if I want them. So when I see something that I think I
can't have, immediately I am obsessed by it. " Even to the extent of wooing
a married woman? "Not necessarily, " said George. " I just mean people who
seem unavailable in the sense that they're not prepared to totally cling to
anyone. "
George said his constant pursuit of the " unattainable" is "part of my art."
He explained: " Recently someone said to me that I seem to think anything
worth having in life has to be painful to attain. And that is definitely my
attitude. I don't feel I deserve something if I haven't had to fight for it.
"
Yet George added: " My idea of a perfect romance is when two people really
belong to each other. When someone is always going to be there for you."
He admitted he could walk away from rock and live in luxury forever. But "
I'd live to think I will still be satisfying myself and other people as a
musician, songwriter and performer until the day I die. "

(This is hardly a new interview, but actually a hybrid of a couple oldies
from the Faith era methinks. AG)

George, the son of a proud first generation Greek Cypriot restaurateur,
believes that Fony was not backing or promoting him as CBS used to and blames
them for poor sales in America of his albums 'Listen Without Prejudice' and
'Red Hot & Dance'. Behind the Fony doors, executives were complaining that
George has become too precious.
They are furious that he won't co-operate with their marketing
ideas-refusing to appear in videos, do British TV Shows, give newspaper
interviews or promote his album like other artists normally do.
George, who has never done anything he didn't want to do from the start the
start as an 18-year-old singer-songwriter, complains: " Basically, the money
was pulled out of George Michæl in America and in certain other countries
because I was not prepared to do the promotion I had been doing before.
" Now, had I come to them and said, as a new artist at 27 years old. 'These
are my songs, this is what I've got for you, would you please promote me?',
they probably would have promoted it to the hilt. "
George can't bear people staring at him as he walks down the street and an
excursion from his London home can take up to half an hour of
decision-making. He hates facing the camera and one of the reasons he grew a
beard some years ago was to disguise himself.
" It is like having your life documented for approval or disapproval, down to
the minutest detail. "
" I could understand it if I were royalty but I'm not. It makes you feel
trivial. It can be a little bit embarrassing, " he explains.
George has drastically changed his lifestyle now that he is no longer as
hungry for fame and fortune as he was when he launched 'Faith'. He lives with
his golden retriever Hippy in a 2 million pounds Hempstead home where there
is no chauffeur, no cook, and no-cleaner. Even after he had made his first
million, it was still his doting mother Lesley who flicked her duster around
the place each week.
About touring, he added " I'm planning to perform in UK very soon, and also
thinking to perform in some ways Scotland, Norway, Portugal, and Spain .
About America I've not as yet decided because they don't want to see me and
ultimately I've real problem with the organisations."

(Uh oh... AG)

Discussing his determination about making it to the top George recalls: " I
was driven by a kind of insatiable desire for everyone to love me. But when I
got all the fame and success, I realised that it wasn't satisfying for me. It
wasn't everything it was cracked up to be.
Over the past few years, I've been able to decide what I enjoyed or what I
was afraid of and I've realised I've to fight with mj for George.
Boyzone is topping with 10 because they are MTV Asia's artist of the month,
so obviously they'll play more boyzone.
This year my first request was 'Jesus To A Child' 2nd was 'Praying For Time'
and most recently (16th Jan) was 'Jesus To A Child' from 1995 MTV EMA live

performance.

Praying for my George

for our favorite singer. I will need the day and year of his birth,
place and hour. Of course i will be pleased to tell you everything
about it.

DEAR AMANDA,
HI I READ YOUR PIECE IN YOG MAIL ABOUT VIDEO CASSETTES.PLEASE PUT OUT THIS
WARNING IN A FUTURE YOG MAIL AS IT AFFECTS ALL US VIDEO COLLECTORS.

IF YOUR VIDEO COLLECTION IS ABOVE 7 OR 8 YEARS OLD,THEN IT WOULD BE REALLY
BETTER FOR YOU TO GET THEM ALL COPIED ONTO BRAND NEW CASSETTES AS SOON AS YOU
CAN.

(But then they'll look dodgy if you dub them...my trick is to memmorize the
video then it's not necessary to play them. It's true, I have Madonna's
entire Girlie Show from Australia in my head at any goven moment... AG)

I STARTED MY COLLECTION AT THE TIME OF YOUNG GUNS AND THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO
LOSE THE LOT RECENTLY AS THEY HAVE ALREADY STARTED TO DETERIORATE.COPY THEM
AS SOON AS YOU CAN AND KEEP COPYING THEM EVERY 7 OR 8 YEARS.THAT WAY YOU NEED
NEVER LOSE THEM.AND KEP CHECKING THEM TOO. ALL SORTS OF THINGS CAN AFFECT THE
TAPES,HEAT,COLD,DUST,ETC . BUT DO KEEP THEM AWAY FROM DIRECT SUNLIGHT AND
ANYTHING MAGNETIC(TVS,VIDEOS,SPEAKERS ETC)THIS CAN WIPE OUT THE WHOLE
CASSETTE IF LEFT IN CONTACT LONG ENOUGH.

I DONT MEAN TO SCARE ANYONE BUT WHEN I THOUGHT I MIGHT LOSE ALL MY
COLLECTION,I COULD HAVE DIED.

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK AMANDA.
