Hi everyone hi Amanda! =0)
I just want to say that I just finish listening to Older and
this time more on the words and less on the notes and I notice that Older
really sounds a little personal. So maybe it was hard for him to get those
personal things out that's why he needed pot to get them out?? Who knows.
Only he knows.

(I still have to admit I just plain don't get certain lyrics...but I guess I
now know why. AG)

Hey Amanda, everyone, I just thought I would let everyone know that I have
turned my girlfriend into a George fan. She told me she hated him because of
that annoying WHAM song. But I opened her eyes to the overlooked songs of
his past like "A different Corner" and "Everything She Wants". She loves LWP
now. I know how much everyone wanted to know that little bit of info so I
thought I would share it with ya.

(Congrats!!! I think all of us have converted someone at some point... AG)

Oh and has everybody heard the dance version to "Spinning that Wheel"? If
you haven't yet you should soon, it's pretty cool. My friend bought it for me
back in Edmonton. It was an import single and cost about 20 bucks but it's
worth it trust me.

(The Forthright is my fave version of the song. AG)

Well, don't worry i'll keep everyone posted about my girlfriend's musical
tastes, so you can all rest easy.

"Faith"fully yours;
Scott.

Ciao ragazzi, I'm from Italy.

I need your help to understand a couple of things about GM.

Well, he did not make a record for five years because of his fight with
SONY.- They want to sell me as a software-he said.- For them the most
important thing is GM as a business, a face to sell-he said. O.K., I agree.

But when OLDER came out, I saw Yog face on the cd, on newspapers, on TV,
...just everywhere. In the videos and at EMA he acts exactly like the
biggest popstar on this planet. What I want to say is that OLDER seems to be
a SONY record. GM looks like the STAR PEOPLE he makes fun of.

(And we have a winner! Yes, George is being the ultimate star person.
George has to do the press. Virgin and DreamWorks paid big money for him,
and he's got to do some promotion. But also, he said he just didn't like
F(S)ony's attitude in general, so he resented having to do promotional work
for them. AG)

Other problem: GM take part in the Freddie Mercury tribute concert, RED HOT
AND DANCE compilation, and now RED HOT AND SOMETHING I DON'T REMEMBER,
where he invites to STOP AIDS NOW. O.K., I agree.

But in FASTLOVE he talks about absence of security, to take risk, and so on.
So my frends, where do I go wrong?

(George is being paradoxal. But it's also something a lot of people relate
to. I defy the person on this list who says they have not had a one night
stand or else really seriously considered it. He's just giving in to a whim
I guess. AG)

Maybe GM's a SOLA.

(A SOLA? What the hell's a SOLA? SO I e'd Alessandro and asked. AG)

Meaning of SOLA: it's a Roman dialect word. When a thing or a person is not
what you expect, you say it's a SOLA.

es.: if you buy a telly, and it doesn't work, you get a SOLA.

second es.: when Baggio misses the target, you say he's a SOLA.

The word is very loving and not offensive.

(Well judging by your definition then Alessandro, I would have to say George
is a SOLA! AG)

Thank you. Bye.
Un saluto particolere agli amici italiani.

Alessandro.

Hi Amanda!
I just read the latest addition of "Yogmail". I have not been keeping
up on this, and I am paying the price! When did he say he was smoking pot?
I didn't think he did any type of drugs since the Wham! days. Anymore, it's
like smoking cigarettes, so I'm not shocked. Was it in the "Interview" that
everyone is writing about? Where is that interview? I really have to start
keeping up!! Did he do just 1 performance on the Euro awards? I taped 2
hours of it, so I don't know what I missed in the final hour. I only saw
"Star People", and had to stop watching. Keep up the GREAT work!!

(You must read your YOGMAIL!!! Did you get the Sun/Big Issue resend? That
contains part of the interview. He only performed once. AG)

My speculation as to why GM lipsynched at the MTV Europe Awards may have
something to do with how his voice sounded when he accepted his award. His
speaking voice sounded different that night than it has previously. (I'm
judging from videotaped interviews that I have). I think we should give him
the benefit of the doubt that he had a good reason for lipsynching.

(HE could have had a cold or throat infection, you never know. AG)

I would also like to say that no matter what is happening in his personal
life, GM still rocks my world and I will always be a fan :).

Dawn

P.S. To whom it may concern: If at all possible, I beg you, Pleeeeeease
don't type in all caps. It's kind of hard on the eyes.

(I was going to post a bit of YOGMAIL netiquette on this subject myself.
Regular online users know that caps are reserved for SCREAMING, so unless
it's hella important, please keep your voice down. Dawn, Alicia and I thank
you. AG)

Hi Amanda,

i am so intrinsically sad that i missed the MTV euro awards. I bet gm
looked awesome. do you happen to know if it wil be aired again any time
soon? also, i was wondering if you could tell me when the unplugged will be
aired for secluded canadian audiences?

(Fear not, I'm expecting both, and you're welcome to dub them. Any word from
Much yet anyone? AG)

i don't know about everyone else but i can't wait for the greatest hits to
come out. now i am just rambling, but i hope everyone has had their chance
to vent on the big issue thing and we can get back to more important
things--george and his music.

Guys,

# 1 I seem to have missed getting the issue my last post appeared in, never
saw it! All I know is someone (Angel?) went off on me for calling George a
pothead, I only said that cause he said it himself as Amanda pointed
out-thank you!

(I'll send that issue to you. And you're welcome Steph, just watching your
back... AG)

The fact that he smokes and drinks does disturb me a lot too. He does seem
to feel the need to turn to these types of things when he is depressed which
is not a good thing. I would think that having a family that is close and
loves him would help
him to avoid turning to these kinds of things like so many stars have but I
guess not.

I am sorry but I just think pot is disgusting, I do not associate with
people who do it and having caught a whiff of it at concerts makes me want to
hurl! Like you say Amanda though, him using it on ocassion to relax it
different than NEEDING it to write! I just think if he were really and truly
happy he could give of some of these vices. I just have a real problem with
people who start smoking-there is nothing good about it.

I was thinking about Elvis a while ago-a man loved by so many and so
completly screwed up in the end. He carried around tons of pills, people
knew about what they were doing to him yet no one had the courage to do
something about it. That is the problem with being famous, people would
rather kiss your ass then tell you the truth. I just hope to God George
doesn't go for something stronger the next time something bad happens to him.
I think he is too smart for that but I also thought he was too smart to
allow a drug to become a necessity in the writing process! Enough preaching
for today! I hope someone understands what I am trying to say!

(I understand, and hope that a few more of you do too. AG)

little tiny FAQ. In Wham Rap from first wham record the chorus sings in the
back of the record...D.H.S.S. What does that means. What does dhss stands
for??? Hope to hear from You.

(We head this question a while back. And as they told me in the UK: It
stands for Department of Health and Social Security. AG)

Hi Amanda!
Sincere thanks for doing such a great job on Yogmail. I will be sending
you the tape I promised you soon! I work full-time and go to school
full-time, It is extremely hard to find time for everything, so I know
exactly how you feel when you are working, going to school and doing
Yogmail!!

(Ever gotten called into work on 30 minutes notice when you're supposed to be
spending the night doing homework? AG)

Your request for HELP on the Q issue is as follows, and I added the pages
that everyone would be interested in! The issue of Q needed is October
1996-silver 10th Anniversary cover. If you open the flap of the cover,
George is to the left, 2nd row, 2nd person. On p. 48, there is a great
picture of George and Andrew under a column called: Q Tens-Ten Acts who had
their last UK hit in 1986. George Michael is also mentioned on Pages 77-78,
and George and Wham! are included on page 195 under Chart Facts. Oh, and if
anyone wants to read what Gary Barlow of Take That said about George, it is
on page 142, last two paragraphs. I hope this information helps!!

(I have bad news for Debbie... I went downtown on a break from work
yesterday, and the store that had the October Q's, had Sept, Nov, and Dec,
but no October. BLOODY BUS STRIKE! I could not get to the store any sooner.
I'm so sorry! I do know of one other place that has one copy but it's in
pretty rough shape for the $8 they're asking. Let me know what you want to
do Deb, I can also just send your money back, and perhaps someone who has the
Q can photocopy the pages for you. AG)

Sincerely,
Lisa Marie Plasek

IF YOU ARE WILLING PLEASE LET ME KNOW IT WOULD REALLY MEAN ALOT. I WOULD

ALREADY HAVE. IF THERE IS ANYTHING THAT MIGHT BE OFFERED HERE IN THE U.S. AND
I CAN GET IT FOR YOU I WILL TRY TO GET FOR YOU.

(Darlene, I am always willing to dub for the Faithful. I think the full list
takes 2 90 minute tapes, and with postage, and padded mailer, it all comes to
$12 U.S. $10 Canadian for those of you up here. Just send the $ to my snail
mail address with a note reminding me what you want, and you too can have a
post it note sitting on the wall reminding me how I'm spending my XMas
vacation. Currently on there: JT, Dana, Chris W., Carolyn, Jo, and--as
always--Alicia. Plenty of room for more... AG)

Hi, Amanda-

I've got to comment about the enclosed message. This is the second time that
I've read this and believe it is not true. He got his O levels and went on
to get his A levels as well. It's mentioned in Bare and, if memory serves,
is the reason why they didn't get the band together sooner. I'm not sure
what the age equivalent is in the UK - or if the O levels match our high
school diploma - but it sure seems like George took education seriously.

(Age wise, I think he was 17 when he left, but he did indeed get his O
levels, and 2 A levels, and yes, it was George's desire to get his A levels
that frustrated the hell out of Andrew. AG)

As you can tell, I'm back on track. Call me 'addicted'. Either that or old
habits die hard. :)

(Glad to see you back. Post anytime! AG)

ttfn,
Kel :)
