YOU'VE GOT YOGMAIL!!!

In light of how behind I am with postings, and because of some late breaking
news, you're getting an extra issue. Enjoy!

BTW, I had a dream about our LA trip, only it was an ANGEMAIL weekend...and
Keren looked really old for some reason...

AND AWAY WE GO...

Dear Dallas (RHUNTLEY-at-catawba.edu)

First of all, welcome to Yogmail! You'll love it here!

(And if not, hey, don't bitch, it's free! AG)

Don't feel alone when it comes to age! I just turned 28 in August, and have
been a fan (atic?) for the past decade or so! My friends have pretty much
given up on me. However, I have persuaded a few to join the ranks! Let's
just say that copies of Older make great gifts (hehehe)!

(I forced 3 people to buy theirs, and have given out 2 copies of Older to
friends, plus one Jesus to a Child to my 2 year old niece--I figure if she
leaves it sealed the inagural DreamWorks release should be worth something
one day. AG)

Good luck with school!!

In response to Pete Christ about Wynnco. I have their latest catalog
(through snailmail). Their email is wynnco-at-globalvision.net
They have a great selection of things concerning George, including a fanzine
called 'A Different Corner'. Can anyone tell me if this is from Asem's
board?

ttfn,
Kelly :)

btw - I totally agree about the young thugs thing. Personally I feel they
should change the name of MTV to America's Most Wanted.

(But I thought we were supposed to like "Thug Life"? AG)

Dear Amanda:

Hi! On Saturday Night Live(NBC-10/26/96) -at- 10:30 P.M. Dana Carvey was
the host for the evening. Dana Carvey who had previously performed George
Michael skits during the "Faith" years(lots of references to George's
gorgeous butt), did a skit about the 80's. Dana Carvey came on with a short
wig and had a goatee. A character who was called "goatman" interviewed the
"Older" but wiser George. The skit was very funny. "George" kept referring
to how his butt had its own ecosystem, and how round and perfect it was.

(I missed it due to work. His butt has its own ecosystem? No dissesntion
here... AG)

I was watching Saturday Night Live (actually I was flipping back and forth
from a different station) and I caught part of a sketch with Dana Carvey and
he portrayed George again (he played him in the faith days). This time he
had the goatee and the caesar do. But the part of the skit I saw wasn't very
funny if you're a GM fan. It really made fun of him. I was actually shocked
and a bit appalled. Who knows, maybe it will get his name out there and make
people buy his music again in the U.S.

(I find all the mocking to be funny really. And quite honestly, any
publicity is good publicity I guess. AG)

Not taking it too seriously,
Shawn

AG,

Did i read the YOGMAIL for Oct 25, #37 correctly?!?!?

Did you say that GM did some drugs in order to dance in the Fastlove video?
You wrote something like, "He (GM) seems to have kinda admitted to some
stimulation in helping him dance in the Fastlove video". Did you mean it?

(Yup, if what George said in the MTV interview is what it seems to mean
anyway... AG)

GEORGE FOR SALE!!!!

* 8 X 10 black If you like smooth, cool danceable jazz, you will love this duet.
He has chosen his duet partner well, as he always does. Astrud Gilberto
complements George's voice very well, and maintains the vibratoless,
trumpet-like jazz lines of the song beautifully. It is ironic that the text
of the song suggests that the singer cannot sing in tune, yet George and
Astrud keep pitch perfectly.

(I have always felt that if George lost it all tomorrow, he could get every
penny back based on his production abilities. AG)

Finally, as an artist myself (Opera singer), I applaud George's dedication in
staying true to the composer's vision and learning and performing the song in
the native Portugese. This is indeed a rarity among popular music
performers, and it is just another example of what allows George Michael to
constantly shine brighter than any others in the current fare of pop music
mediocrity.

(An opera singer? I'm very impressed! I have a fair--at best--singing
voice. George has always been a fan of Portuguese music, so I'm not too
surprised he chose to perform it in Portuguese. AG)

Keep up the great work Amanda. It always brightens up my day to see that I
have Yogmail.

(Great to hear it. AG)

(I did check it out. Some very nice shots of George including--as Alicia and
I know it--Sexy Grin. An excerpt from the page:

In reply to Aidan's question about Fastlove: The Summer Mix. It's not the
same mix as Fastlove Pt.2. It's only available on the US single, and is a
slower version with less of a dance beat.

(It's pretty good. I've heard it played on the easy listening stations a
handful of times. AG)

The version of Fastlove you heard in the bar Amanda was the one on the Dance
Remixes of STW...it's faster than the original.

(Well to be honest, I really didn't care for it, it just went to fast. BTW,
thanks for the Japanese import single of FastLove. I always wanted to know
what the lyrics were in Japanese...I highly recommend everyone check out
FastLov York? Or perhaps someone has the info for me to
get a back issue directly from "Q"?

I appreciate any info you can give me.

(I think the import shop had 3 copies when last I was there. Failing that,
I'll have to find my Q collection from last summer to get you the address.
REMIND ME!!! AG)

Amanda,

Do you really have a connection for video dubbing (you mentioned it in issue
#39 of Yogmail)? I am contemplating purchasing some videos from one our
fellow Yogites (Paul Heyworth) in the UK, but the cost of dubbing in New York
is astronomical ($20 for the first 60 min minimum. Most run about 30-75 US$
for a 2 hour or 3 hour video!!!) Oy vey!!

(Oy vey indeed! I think I have a connection. An occasional waiter at the
resturant runs a dubbing business, but he's a really crappy waiter, so I have
to drop by and see his dubbing operation before I whole heartedly endorse
him. I don't have time for this for a couple weeks though, so bare with me
please? AG)

I would appreciate any information on cheaper dubbing possibilities. I live
in New York. Please let me know if you can help - Thanks, doll!

ANYWAY JUST THOUGHT ID SHOW YOU WHAT I FOUND TODAY IN MY SKY TV PROGRAMMES
LISTING. THIS IS WHAT I WROTE TO SOMEONE EARLIER AND COPIED IT TO SAVE
TYPING.

looking forward to the mtv awards soon, and the unplugged session. got my sky
magazine this morning and it doesnt mention the unplugged session at all.
however it does say mtv unplugged with a vma winner. ah ha, are they letting
it slip that george has won an award? just looked through sky magazine
again,on wed 13th november at 11pm it says mtv unplugged with a vma
NOMINEE,then on saturday the 16th of november it
says mtv unplugged with a vma WINNER......could this be the george michael
unplugged session?

(I think it's safe to say if he's performing, he's won. Besides, MTV Europe
loves George. He's gotten the MTV Europe award at 2 MTV Awards, so I think
it's safe to say he should buy a really nice suit to wear to the show, it'll
be getting a lot of air time... AG)

I CERTAINLY HOPE SO. SO THIS COULD BE THE AIRING

Hey Amanda: Did you say you knew where I could get a copy of Bare? Just
remembered someome told me that and I think it was you.

(OK this is the last time: Contact Dan: boy1derz-at-aol.com AG)

So - what did you think of the picture? I loved it and thot it showed a
real sense of humor and looseness that may have something to do with spliff
and the occasion - probably only friends and relatives attended.

(This picture you speak of...I have seen it, I have laughed at it, I would
love to tell the YM gang about it, but I think I should make them wonder for
a bit. AG)

Keep up the great work - I'll send a donation - you sure deserve it!

(Thanks! AG)
