Hello all, I'll get straight to it. Sorry for the delay today, but I
got alittle sidetracked last night.
Notes: 1. Missing an issue? Just let me know. 2. I think we've shattered the 300
member mark. YOU'VE GOT ANGEMAIL!!!
So here is installment two of ANGEMAIL. When
last we heard about thestunningly handsome Mr. Ridgeley, he had just released an album. The illfated effort was not well received. I
have several reviews, here is but one: shandrew-at-indiana.edu (shelly renee andrews)
writes:
I went through my archives to find thease things, and stumbled acrosssomething funny...the "Son of Albert"
album review that ran in Rolling StoneJune 28, 1990. Poor Andrew. I haven't heard the album, is it really thisbad?
(I
honestly liked it, but it's very guitar heavy, and Andrew's voice is notmuch compared to George's. AG)
You probably already
have this,huh?..If so, here it is again for a laugh orcry.
(Since I had already bought and listened to the album before
reading thereview--having gone to the mall with my mom who had to go to the bank, Iwandered off, and upon finding it in the
"New Releases" I tore back to thebank to borrow the necessary funds--I had a good laugh. AG)
1/2 star....(published
scale goes down to 1 star only, and calls that "poor")By: Jim Faber
"On the credibility scale, Andrew Ridgely
falls somewhere between LaToyaJackson and oblivion. His critical standing is so low that some believeWham! roadies contributed more
to the group's success than he did. Unfortunately for him, Ridgeley's first solo album makes this asseessmentseem generous. At best,
the album suggests a macabre vision of Ridgeley asan evil-minded backup singer who erased the actual lead vocals from thetracks in a
last-ditch attempt to draw attentin to himself. What otherexplanaion can there be for a voice this shapeless and reedy at center
stage? The music Ridgeley co-wrote to cover these deficiencies only highlights theproblem. He all too obvioulsy latched onto a
classic method of feigningcredibility: make every song loud and fast, so no one can figure out what'swrong. The problem is theat one
can't help but be riveted by theludicrousness of Ridgeley's affectations. He takes all the rocker moves --the snarl, the screech,
the fey swish -- and makes them ridiculous. Meanwhile, his guitar-based music is just as far off the mark. Though manysongs drew on
a promising glitter-rock influeince, especially "Mexico" and"Kiss Me," the music ultimately reeks of modern,
low-end, spandex rock. Evenhis cover of the Everly Brothers' "Price of Love" muffs it stomping all overits own hook. Then
again there is a CD bonus track that manages to getthings at least half right -- "Shake (Hardcore)." It's the only song on
the album with no lead vocal at all."
(OUCH!!!! AG)
Its no wonder the guy crawled back into oblivion. You may not
want to publishthis, It's so mean, and it'll be in the archives. I seem to remember Georgecommenting on "Son of Albert"
somewhere along the way... In the RS Randomnotes ...Something about how he liked it or it was pretty promising...What afriend, what
a friend.
(Hey, it's not that bad. It's just a bit more guitar driven than anythingGeorge has written. There's a very obvious
Queen influence. And in aninterview, George said he did like it. AG)
There were 2
videos released. Shake endured a great deal of controversy forit's voyeuristic overtones. My thanks to Alicia for pointing out that
thelady we are watching in the vid is indeed the same lady in the Father Figurevid. Andrew was being very innovative. I recall
Andrew went on apromotional tour--no singing--and I saw a couple of interviews, funny asusual--but alas, my VCR was out of order at
the time... A second videofollowed for Red Dress. I didn't find out about it until just a couple ofmonths ago, and my thanks to A
THAT IT WAS RECORDED ON. IT WAS VERY FRANK AND VERY FUNNY. I REMEMBER GEORGES LAST WORDS ON THE SHOW WERE "OH MY GOD, MY
MOTHER'S GOING TO SEE THIS"!!!! IF ANYONE OUT THERE HAS A COPY OF IT THEN YOU REALLY OUGHT TO SEEK IT OUT. IF EVER I FIND MY
COPY THEN ILL LET YOU KNOW.
(If anyone can get a copy, I can arrange a dubbing pyramid. AG)
ALSO I REPLIED TO YOU LAST
WEEK ABOUT UNPLUGGED, WELL NOW THEY ARE ADMITTING TO IT BEING RECORDED LAST SATURDAY HERE IN LONDON, BUT WILL NOT GIVE OUT ANY
DETAILS.PLEASE KEEP US ALL POSTED ON IT AS HIS PRESS AGENT JUST WILL NOT GIVE ANYTHING AWAY ANYMORE.
(They're just doing
their job I guess. It's been confirmed to air. When? Read on... AG)
ON MTV NEWS TODAY THEY SAID THAT GEORGE HAS RECEIVED HIS
NEW DREAM CAR AJAGUAR XS7? AT A COST OF $80,000
(Yes, and to clarify, this was the new baby I said was in George's life. AG)
ALSO
JUST LIKE TO SAY WHAT A GREAT JOB YOURE DOING HERE AND I HAVE PUT A LINK TO YOUR SITE ON MY HOME PAGE. CATCH IT AT HTTP://OURWORLD.COMPUSERVE.COM/HOMEPAGES/FASTLOVE
(Thanks.
I think this now gives me 4 or 5. I'll be sure to check out your page. AG)

she can even get more free time (from our constant mails) to get a life(and a (thinking) boyfriend (if she so chooses.))
(That's
such a nice gesture, and I must confess a decent list server couldmake my life a hell of a lot easier and YM a lot more efficient.
Thisparticular posting was sent to me October 17th, to give you an idea of thebacklog. Anyway, it's up to you guys, but quite
frankly, even a quarter ortwo would cover it. AG)
Note: A "friend" of mine was at a bar the other night doing
Karaoke (everyoneknows that that's where you rip off someone with talent's song, right?); Avery well dressed man came in and got on
stage. He turned the chair around, straddled it, and sang a George song (she didn't remember which one) betterthan she'd ever heard
anyone sing it...except of course for the masterhimself. He then sang an Annie Lennox song with equal quality. He finishedand
left...and the "friend" has been demoted because she didn't get his nameor number.
(I once had a friend who
"thought" he could sing George's songs as well asthe man himself. And regarding hurt feelings and Karaoke, sorry Alicia.
Does anyone know of any decent Karaoke bars in the Sacramento area? AG) LMPLASE-at-aol.com

Also, all George Michael fans need to check out Q magazine from England(October 96 edition),
George is on the cover along with some other stars, butGeorge is in the magazine several times. There is even a picture of Georgeand
Andrew and a picture of George in concert. Also, it mentioned that inDenmark the #1 album is Wham! The Final!!!!
(I've been
looking for it, but my once great newsstand is now horriblybehind. AG)

Hi there Amanda, how are you?
(Alive last time I checked. AG)
I was just reading the
latest Yogmail, very good it was too, and I saw thismentioned a few times,
>* FastLove Summer Mix
What is this?
I've got the UK edition of the Fastlove single, in the Digipak, and that came with Fastlove Part 1, I'm Your Man, and Fastlove Part
2. I'mguessing that the Summer Mix is the same song as part two, eg, Fastlove andI'm Your Man mixed together, with a few new
sections added? Is that right, orare we missing out on something over here?
(OK, I have heard 3 versions of this song, the
standard, the SummerMix--these I own-- and a club mix in a bar several weeks ago, the only thingI really remember was that George
sounded like he was on helium and that theonly redeeming quality was the "Everybody needs a little FastLove"mantra--that
the whole bar was chanting along with. I've seen the UK importsingle here, but still lack the $20 to buy it, I just visit it every
coupledays to make sure it's still there, and would actually like to know if it'sworth buying. I refer to my guru for help: ALAN???
AG)
Also, do you know what album(s) Careless Whisper was on? I know it was on'Make It Big' by Wham, but what about 'The
Final' by Wham? Was it on there?
(I don't have the Final. Someone? AG)
Anyway, sorry to have bothered you, and keep up
the fantastic work, what canI say, YM's getting better and better all the time! Thanks in advance.
(Never a bother, thank
YOU, and you're very welcome. AG)
AG Rambles:
OK, just got my snail mail, I
and got me a little something in there fromMike Devery. The non-North America CD of Fantastic. How come your cover artto Fantastic
was such a deeper shade of red? THE INNERVISION LOGO!!!!!! COOL!! The dancing men logo! The dedication!!! WE didn't get this stuffin
North America!!!! We did get better liner notes though. Your Ridgeley was born January 26th, 1963 This stuff happens all the time,
but it does get tiresome after a while. AG)
Try not to kill yourself trying to catch up on everything!

guys now get put on hold when my life needs me, not the otherway around. AG)

Hi Amanda
(Hi. AG)
I was wondering if you knew whether GM UNPLUGGED concert would be aired
on MuchMusic? As a Canadian fan I don't get MTV.
(I keep wondering, being here in the land of ice hockey and REAL beer,
thesame thing myself. I would assume that yes they will, but several monthsafter MTV does. The only advice I can give you is to make
a US friend. Ihave my faithful MTV and VH1 connections, and wouldn't trade them for theworld! That or you can wait until next
summer... I'll be glad to help youfind one. AG) lion99-at-ix.netcom.com (Josh

Hi Amanda and everyone else out there, OK, two things in this note. First, someone asked for a list
of B sidesand that sort of thing so here's that...also, I decided to put a list ofitems I am looking desperately for at the bottom
of this note as well. Keepup the great work...(and sorry about making you blush)!
(NO need to apologize. As close friends can
attest--well at least the oneswho have seen me in person--despite my hard as nails exterior, I find that myability to easily blush
has been a great asset, and gets me out of a lot oftrouble... AG)
B Sides and Rarities:
Bad Boys instrumental with a
little extra musical intro that soundsremarkably like Young Guns
Ray of Sunshine version specially recorded for the Tube,
available on side Bof some Epic released 12" singles of Wake Me Up Before You GO Go
Ray of Sunshine Cool version at the
end of side A of the Epic released UKcassette of Fantastic
Love Machine Cool version tacked on to the end of side A of the UK
EpicFantastic cassette.
Wham Rap...too many versions of this one to list...but the best one isavailable on the "Best
Remixes" or "Twelve Inch Tape" collections.
Nothing Looks the Same in the Light Great version tacked on to the
end ofside B of the Epic cassette of Fantastic UK
Young Guns Canadian extended version...this is the best and most rare
versionof Young Guns, completely different from the other extended mix
(NO kidding? I'll have to get the word out and see
what I can do. I'll getthe older siblings to harass their friends for me. AG)
Wake Me Up Before you Go GO instrumental on
side B of the seven and twelveinch singles
Freedom There are two different "Long MIxes" of this one, the best one
on theUS Columbia released twelve inch single, though the Epic one isn't bad.
Careless Whisper Special JW Version Absolutely
outstanding version ofCareless Whisper, completely different from the one we're used to, availableon side B of some Epic twelve inch
singles (this one's really rare, RecordRunner, a great mail order record store in NY has quite a bit of GM raritiesand were selling
this one for $75 a couple months ago.)
I'm Your Man THere's two extended versions of this one, one was on theHeaven album,
the other on the twelve inch single and some other places, aswell as a aucapella version and instrumental.
(Ahh... the
infamous "Magic Car Remix"? I have it somewhere, but I have noidea where, I keep losing this one. AG)
BTW, there's
also an Extended video of this song for those of you interestedthat you can buy on the "WHAM! 1985" VHS tape available
only in the UK so faras I know.
Different Corner Side B of the singles of this had a beautiful instrumentalwith a flute
playing the melody.
Blue Studio (non-live version) available on "The Final" cassette and LP or onthe picture disk
of Fantastic from Japan.
Last Christmas There's three different version of this one, two of which weregiven the name
"Pudding Mix" but were different from bit likeGeorge. It's called "Dance into the Beat" and the songs included
are: WhamRap, Club Tropicana, Wake Me Up, Carless Whisper, Freedom, I Want Your Sex,Everything She Wants and a couple others. If you
want it...make me an offer.
Finally, I am desperately looking for the items. I would prefer originalsof the albums listed but
will settle for cassette copies, and want onlyoriginals of the singles...I already have these BTW, but my mom and I arequarreling
over certain items and have decided to get duplicates of some ofthese so we each have a copy:
Columbia releases of Wake Me
Up, Everything She Wants, and Freedom on twelveinch single
Epic releases of 12 inch singles of all their singles, with the
exception ofthose three listed above.
Special Time...Guys, somebody on this list has got to have a copy of this. I'll pay an
arm and a leg for it if you'll give me a mint condition...or NMcopy of this live double album set by WHAM! recorded in January of
1985...Iwill settle for a cassette copy that I will pay for as well if you can't partwith yours...HELP!! Want this one bad!
I
have the "Everything You Want" live CD of George's from the Faith tour, butreally really want the other one, "George
Michael Live in Europe 1990"...I'dlike the original, but I'll settle for a tape.
Ok that's all for now...sorry about the
long note Amanda...Keep up thegood work!
(Long notes are fine, the editing never takes me more than a couple minutes. If I'm
in a good mood I even spell check. AG)

(OK, so who's going
to help us out? I've got a good connection for dubbingfrom foreign to standard North America VHS (at like $5 an hour), so ifsomeone
