Hi. 5 little things, NO, not grievances...
1. I know some of you are getting
doubles of your YOGMAEL.
AOL and I are working on it, please be patient. I'll have it taken
care of as soon as I can.
2.
I am increasing the byte size of YOGMAEL to 15KB.
3. I have begun to systematically blind CC again, which
means a lot of
potential problems beyond your control. I'll fix
all as fast as I can.
4. Remember that I only post info once, so if you
get a note
telling you what you submitted has run, please understand
that I'm trying to cut down the repetition.
5. Who
else had a real good laugh at the Star People '97
lyrics? George has written a mirror track that rivals Prince's
"Cream".
"What's a mirror track Amanda?" It is a song a
songwriter writes that is intended to be sung while looking
in a
mirror. : )
AND AWAY WE GO...

Hello
Amanda and all Yoggers!
Just thought I'd let you know that Star People'97 is in the fifth
place on the European hitlist!
Great or what?
(VERY GREAT! AG)
In Norway, the single is bubbeling under the Top 20 hitlist, but I
expect it to
become #1 pretty soon! I hope so, anyway... ;)
Regards,
Tone

Looking for a cassette copy of "Star People
’97" (or a CD single,
if it's been released in the UK)...
Was listening to 95.8 CapitalFm in London on the web this
morning
and heard them play it... was really impressed... it's a
major overhaul of the song, complete with Fastlove-esque R&B
rhythms
going on and completely new vocals laid down over the top...
Please e-mail me if you think you can get a copy for me... Will
trade,
etc.
Thanks a bunch!

Hi Amanda!
I was just
reading your Yogaholism paper and it was like reading
about myself. I`m new here and it is the first time I write to you.
I`m
25 year old Icelandic girl living in Copenhagen Denmark, and
of course a George Michael FAN and my 2 year old son is also a
fan,
George Michael is my best babysitter ever, I just put some
George Michael tape in the video and he can sit for a very long
time
and watch. My friends tells me that I`m very lucky to have a
boyfriend that can live with such a fan as I`m and I`m very lucky,
he
just teases me about this. Actually it was him that showed
me yogmael and how I could subscribe to it.
Enough about me, I
have one question. Is the song Waltz away
dreaming being released only in the UK or will I be able to by it
here in
Copenhagen? And all you Danish and Icelandic fans I
would like to here from you.
Best regards
Disa

Hello all
Great news for
Australians!! Some of you might know that
MTV started showing on Optus Vision last month for the
first time in a few years.
Well, a "George Michael Sunday"
has been planned to air on May 25 showing a half-hour
collection of his videos, the
Absolute George Michael
interview and the Unplugged perfomance! Now, I know many
people might not have Optus Vision, so I'm
offering to make
copies for those who haven't already snatched one from
elsewhere, or who were unsatisfied with the measly
half-hour
Unplugged special shown on Channel 9. So, for all those
NTSC-challanged fans who would like an Australian copy, just
drop
me a line and I'll organise it for you. :)

Hi
Amanda,
I want to make a site dedicated to GM. From where can I get the
sources ?
(Like what? Pics? AG)
I am
from Thailand and have tired my best to buy Older EP and
Star People Single to no avail. I have tried all the major music
stores
including Tower Records but nobody seems to be
interested in storing up singles in this part of the world. Anybody
from
Thailand knows where I can get it from???
Thanks

GEORGE MICHAEL JOINS LABOUR'S COMPUTER CRUSADE
Pop
star George Michael is to help implement Tony Blair's
classroom crusade, Labour confirmed.
As an "ambassador" for
Labour's plan to ensure every child has
access to a laptop computer, his job will be to "sell" to young
people the
huge educational potential of new technology.
Today's Mail on Sunday says that the 33-year-old singer met Mr.
Blair
recently at the Labour leader's north London home.

It is still in the trial stage, so please let me know if anything
doesn't work. The site
will soon be moving to a new address with
its own domain name.
This may be sort of a dumb posting, but I have a question..
I
was given a Trojan Souls cassette. It is label "Trojan Souls" with
a 1 track promo song. The song is the same from
Andros' Boogie
Box High album "Sweat." Does anyone know the relation between
this song on Trojan Souls and Boogie
Box High?

Hi
everyone!
I have more news about George Michael and Morcheeba from
"allstar, the better online magazine at
http://www.allstarmag.com/".
This information was included in the gossip section as follows:
After the LA Morcheeba
show at the El Rey Theater, in a posh
restaurant 10 blocks away, Morcheeba and George Michael met
for dinner. As reported in
allstar, Michael was overheard at the
show saying how much he wanted to work with the group. Now
Ross Godfrey of Morcheeba has
been quoted at the dinner saying,
"We'll hook up with him when we get back to London. He wants to
do anything he can for
us, whether it's his material or our material.
We're going to have a chat together." Reportedly, the reason the
two
didn't get around to discussing future plans was because a
woman from Discovery Records, Morcheeba's label, kept
dominating
the conversation about how much she loved Wham!
Maybe when the two get together next time, they'll be able to get
a word in
edgewise...
I think this is very interesting information, and I hope everyone
enjoys it!
Sincerely,
Lisa Marie

Hello Amanda and
everyone on YM!
This is my first post to YM after 10 or so brilliant issues. Well
done, good show, what!
I'm a 'long
term' Wham/GM fan since way back when..... the
beginning of Wham at age 12 (showing my age??), although I've
only been to one
concert:( Roll on the next tour! . I'm from
good ol' England (minority perhaps?), are there any fellow
English peeps out
there?
(The UK lists boasts 65 names. Second only to the US for fan
concentration, and there are a number of English peeps
on the
AOL lists as well. AG)
Well, enough about me, Star People was released here on
Monday, and has reached number 17
in the network charts.
Not bad, although I think it could do better - great song, great
reworking of the album version.
I
haven't as yet heard anything about the Waltz Away Dreaming
release, but when I do I shall let you all know. If it is only
released
here in the UK/Europe, I shall be happy to get some
copies for people across the pond - let me know and I'll give you
a price
plus postage.
(Count me in. AG)
Well, we've just had a VERY exciting general election here, so
I'm off to drink in
some more politics. Hasta Luego
(Cheers then! AG)

Star People '97 was released in Paris this week. I think it's a
GREAT
version! As I always buy all the remixes, this is the 9th
CD I buy since one year (album included). Total cost is near
700FF
now (US $ 120).
First, I would like to say that I HATE all the Forthright mixes.
I'm always very pleased to get new
George materials -especially
after 5 years of "nothing"- but I think this Michael Jackson-like
commercial policy
cost me/us a lot for almost nothing interesting
(except the older EP and Star People '97). When Virgin bought
George's
contract for an incredible amount of money, I just
thought they were mad. Not now. I think WE are all paying Fony
for letting
George go.
I'm not complaining about having new stuff to buy every month
(cause I could stop buying... maybe!), but looking
all these
remixes, I just think we have the quantity, not the quality.
I'm still loving George's music, not other people's
remixes.
"...cos WE can pay the rent"

MEGASTORE ON SUNSET IN L.A. AND THEY HAD THE STAR
PEOPLE US SINGLE WITH THE 5 MIXES
AND STRANGEST
THING. WELL SOME OF THEM HAD A STICKER THAT SAID:
"INCLUDES THE HIDDEN TRACK #7: STAR PEOPLE '97"
WELL
I BOUGHT IT AND SURE ENOUGH, THERE IT IS, TRACK
#7. THE "F" WORD HAS BEEN SILENCED AT THE END LIKE
ALL THE OTHER US
VERSIONS BUT IT IS THERE. I PLAYED
MY ORIGINAL MAXI CD OF STAR PEOPLE TO SEE IF I MISSED
IT AND IT IS SURELY NOT THERE. SO GO
OUT, LOOK FOR
THE STICKER ON THE FRONT, AND BUY STAR PEOPLE AGAIN!
(It was an add to the second pressing because the track
was not
yet ready at the time DreamWorks chose to release. AG)

Obscure no mare,
Hello. I'm Doug
writing from the heart of NA in Columbia, Missouri,
a place where George's name is scarcely heard or used and his
music is
even less frequently played. Can you imagine such a
place so devoid of meaning and culture?
(Yeah, it's called Hamilton
Ontario... AG)
This is my first mailing and let me begin by saying how much
Yogmael is appreciated to one who loves the
music and lyrics
that George has given us, but who lives in an area where Reba
and Garth are the reigning monarchs of pop
culture.
Although the place I depict looks hopeless; a wasteland for what
they are missing, I believe it is my duty to
bring to Columbia a
flavor of GM's creative talent. The streets of Columbia are
treated to his songs booming from my '88 GMC
Jimmy. The CD
changer is usally packed with "Wham, the Final" "Faith" "LWP"
"Older"
and assorted singles. At stoplights people will look over
in the direction of the music and smile. Others, not so much.
For
a couple of years I worked as a home-audio salesperson for
a large electronics retailer that shall remain nameless. I recall
demonstrating
a rather expensive pair of speakers known for
their quality and range to a husband and wife. Choice of music
is always
critical in the sales process and asking what they
would have liked to hear only resulted in the usual response
"Anything
- we don't care...(pause)...except rap." The choice I
carefully decided on came easily...in went "LWP"...straight
to
track five. "Cowboys and Angels" may not be my personal
favorite song of George's but it definitely makes a
quality set of
speakers sound really smooth. They were both impressed by
the selection, even asked me who the singer was, and
although
they didn't buy the speakers, I did see them leave the store with
a copy of LWP in their hands. Too bad I wasn't
getting commision
for CD sales. I'd like to feel responsible if it were discovered that
there are strangely higher than normal
sales of George's music in
Columbia.
(Amazing. Good job! AG)
Right now I'm finishing a masters degree and hope to be
moving
on from here in the near future where I'm sure I'll bless yet
another devoid community with George Michael's gift for
song.
More to come later...

be willing to sell to other Yogmaelers for what I paid for them.
New
copies are $16.99 and used, but good copies are $8.99.
(plus the cost of shipping) I apologize for the high prices but I
bought
a bunch when it first had come out. I'm not a dealer so
I pay full retail for all my stuff. I would even recommend that you
exhaust
all other possibilities first because I have seen some
copies for very cheap in bargain baskets and closeout bins.
However, if
you are absolutely desparate, e-mail me at

To Wrap
it Up:
You were supposed to get details on YM Weekend today I
know. BUT, some last minute details popped up, and so
the
itinerary was scrapped, and is in the process of being
reworked. The only definites at the moment are:
1. Friday night at
7969 in west Hollywood--trust me!
2. Disneyland on Sunday.
"Are you serious? I'm just curious."
