YOU'VE GOT YOGMAEL!!

Hey gang. May as well get straight to it, but first apologize for
the shameless No Doubt plugs. My excuse? I have 3:

1. I owe a friend at Trauma--their label--a favor.
2. George's former manager Rob works A&R at Trauma.
3. Gwen's boyfriend is friends with George.

Humour me and I'll tell you a secret a little birdie told me.

AND AWAY WE GO...

Ladies and Gentleman of the Camera Crew--
Hi! can I just say I LOVED the VH1 honours! It really didn't come
alive until George came out!! It was like a real concert!!!! George
looked soooo happy!! It was like he loved performing again!! I
think a tour can't be far behind--BUT NO OFFICIAL WORD
YET!!!:):):)

On a tour-related note: I attended the kick-off performance of the
No Doubt North American tour! It was fabulous--reminiscient of
the glory tours of the 80's!!!:) GOOD SHOW!! The first thing I
said to my friend was "Let's go to the Mountain View show!!"

The mosh-pit was a very scary, scary place--I suggest watching it
from a far my sweet Amanda!:):)

(Yes, I know, thanks for the warning. I am now petrified having
taken a look at the Excuse Me Mister vid. God help me... AG)

Luv-ya-lots,
Alicia

Hey Amanda and fellow GM fans-
This is my first time writing, but I have been following Yogmael
for about a month now. I would like to commend you, Amanda,
on the incredible job of putting all of this together--you are too
much!! 'Fantastic' job!! I have been a GM fan since I was in grade
school, when Fantastic & Make It Big came out. Have followed
ever since. He is THE MAN!!! It's just too bad that he doesn't get
much airplay out here in the LA area, except on easier listening
stations that play Careless Whisper and Father Figure. Don't
get me wrong, those are two of my favorite songs, but I would
love to hear more. Have to mention, also, that I am sorry about
the passing of his mom. I know it's tough. Prayers are with you,
George.
Regarding your soon-to-be No Doubt escapade, Amanda--I
saw them last November and let me tell you-Gwen Stefani and
her band members are CRAZY!! Bouncing around all over the
place! Extremely entertaining, though. Just watch out if you're
gonna be in the pit--people do not care if you are in the
way-hope you don't get trampled! You're in for a great show,
though.

(After hearing from my pal at their record company I am in
terror, the note was along the lines of "THE PIT? WHAT WERE
YOU THINKING?!" And on that cheery note, will trade a pair
in the pit for a pair in the stands... AG)

Also, the weekend you seem to be planning in July for the
LA area sounds great, if all are welcome. The San Fernando
Valley (West Hills, Woodland Hills, Canoga Park, etc.) is only
about half an hour from my house!! :) Let me know if I can be
of help.

(All are of course welcome, the more the merrier! Full scale
planning starts May 1st, details announced May 15th. AG)

Did anyone happen to catch VH1 Honors? Every time it
has been on, I have only caught the end. :( I was there with a
friend but we came in late, only to be arriving at the end of,
yes, you guessed it, George's speech!! I, being as blind as
a bat, could not even make out who was on stage. It only
took a few seconds to pick up his voice and finally realize
what we had missed being late!!! By then, he was finished
and was walking off stage. :( :( :( I was totally bummed!
Thanks for listening and for everyone sharing their info
and stories. I love it!! Have a good one everybody!

P.S. PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU HAVE SENT A LETTER
SO THAT I CAN MAKE A GREATER CASE WHEN I TRY TO GET

A MEETING WITH HIM.

STAR ALSO HAS AN INTERNET ADDRESS, BUT I HAVEN'T
BEEN ABLE TO GET IT TO WORK LATELY. JUST IN CASE,
HERE IT IS: http://www.star987.com

About the No Doubt concert! I was in the pit before No Doubt was
ever famous and I got worked. You get smooshed, you can't breathe,
and some people had to get pulled out by the security guards for
their own safety. Other than that, No Doubt is awesome in concert.
Gwen can completely control a crowd. Have fun and good luck.

(oh shit... AG)

Hi Amanda,

Just wanted to say thanks for all the hard work you put into the
list. I remember in a recent issue you were talking about a
surprise appearance by GM on VH1, do you have information
on that?

(You should know all about that by now. AG)

Also, what is your web site address? I've misplaced it.

(OK, take note all, I have changed the URL a bit for the vanity
page. The new YOGMAEL site is located at:
http://members.aol.com/Yogmael/photo.html
Now new and improved with shots of George, Andrew,
and Keren. I'm looking for a decent shot of Andros. AG)

Hello All,

Here is some info about George at the VH1 Honors this
weekend (4/11).

CyberSleaze for Friday the 11th of April, 1997
--- edited by: Jill "The Diva" Stempel

SO THESE VH1 HONORS AWARD THING again because my lips have stuck to my teeth." His
bemused fans waited until the OLDER chart-topper dashed off
stage for a drink of water, only for the same thing to happen
again. Michael added, "Sorry about this, but I've got to get
another drink." The stage-struck star, who used a backing
tape when performing at last year's MTV EUROPEAN MUSIC
VIDEO AWARDS in London, finally managed to reel off his
speech. He then joined fellow pop artists CHAKA KHAN,
STEVIE WONDER and STEVE WINWOOD to sing live.

The Honors were excellent and will be repeated quite a few
times. I hope everyone will get a chance to see it!

Hi Amanda and Yoggers !

My trip to London at Easter was absolutely great , because

GM was everywhere ! I could listen to his songs in pubs, shops
and of course on the radio . On Capital FM his songs were played
every day !! I heard some remixes of Star People , Older , Jesus
to a Child , Too Funky and Fastlove several times on there . And
of course , I was able to listen to Waltz Away Dreaming ...

The conversation between George and the DJ before the song
was great, too ! He was so nice , joking all the time in a very
good mood . I'm very proud to be one of his fans , because by
doing that kind of generous things he proves that he's also a
nice person .

And for all the people who have asked about the song...Well , I
think it's different from other things he's done. It's a ballad with
very special background vocals . The music is performed by an
orchestra , a piano and some guitars , I think . Burke starts
singing (he's got a strong voice) and then it's George's turn. He
sings very smoothly and with a lot of feeling... After that they
both sing together, doing a kind of dialogue . You have to know
who the song is written for in order to understand it... Anyway, I
liked it , It's very moving .

Apart from that , I bought the Older songbook for piano/guitar/
vocals in Virgin Megastore and it's a great book . It has all the
pictures in the album, the complete lyrics and of course the
notes for piano & guitar . I think from now on I'll play the piano
more often !

BTW, does anyone know if he went to Elton John's birthday
party? I can't imagine him wearing a fancy dress...

(Oddly enough, I can...but I'm not sure if he was, I don't think he
was in London at the time. AG)

That's all , see you soon

Yaisa

PS: - Amanda , I speak Spanish (another bilingual in Yogmael!)
- Rose , you have a great GM 's page
- George Lewis , how are you ?

Hi Amanda

I've just read Yogmail #137 and I noticed that a reader said that
the Europe MTV special wasn't on - well I hate to disagree but
I've taped the interview and the one later in March. The first was
all about the Older Album and the second was the essential GM
(only half an hour - how could they!!)

Anyway on Saturday April 26 MTV England 10.00pm George
Michael unplugged!!!!! and again on Wednesday April 30 11.00pm

Keep up the good work Amanda - I really love reading the letters

Lots of love

I finally got 3 imports at my friendly Circut City this week, thanks
for the help Carolyn, [2 STW's and OLDER EP] and thanks to
another friend Denise [also a fellow YOGMÆLER] who was kind
enough to sent me the 2 STAR PEOPLE EP's. I have new music
to drive my family crazy. I want to comment on the two new
songs. I can not believe no one has said anything about these
songs, they are so specia lead singer Gavin Rossdale,
-- friend of George, main squeeze of Gwen -- used to be in a
band that sang Wham! songs...

"Obscure is good."
